Doing a “Groopman” is something we all share when we attempt to apply the knowledge and skills we learned in the classroom to the real world. Our learning and our preparations shows us an inside view of the swamp and what it’s like. We don’t get into the swamp until we are done with school and began learning in the real world.
Everybody at one time was doing a “groopman”, but instead you want to do a “burnside” doing a “burnside” is acting with confidence and competence as we grapple with wicked problem, which is crucial to success in the swamp. Once you do a “burnside” you become a “swamp master” to be a swamp master means that you understand the difference between high ground and the swamp. The swamp is the ugly, spontaneous, messy, difficult learning that teaches you about the real world or the problem. The ground is looking into the swamp understanding what the ugly, spontaneous, messy, difficult problem. Once there is understanding there is knowing the solutions and implementing them to solve the problem.
